The Parliament of Uganda has appointed Ms Grace Gidudu as Acting Director of Communication and Public Affairs, replacing the previous office holder in the leadership of the parliamentary communications department.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, Parliament announced that Gidudu, who has been serving as Assistant Director for Media Relations, will take charge of the department in an acting capacity.
“Ms Grace Gidudu has been appointed Acting Director, Communication and Public Affairs,” Parliament said in a statement shared on its official communication platforms.
Gidudu is a long-serving member of the Parliamentary Service and has built her career within the institution, particularly in media relations and public communication.
Her appointment places her at the helm of the department responsible for managing Parliament’s public communication, media engagement, institutional visibility and dissemination of parliamentary information to citizens and stakeholders.
Before her appointment, Gidudu served as Assistant Director, Media Relations, where she coordinated media activities and supported communication between Parliament and the press.
The Communication and Public Affairs Directorate plays a key role in enhancing public understanding of parliamentary processes, supporting access to information and strengthening engagement between legislators and the public.
Parliament has increasingly focused on improving communication strategies to promote transparency, public participation and awareness of legislative work.
Gidudu’s appointment comes as the institution continues to adapt its communication approaches amid growing demand for timely access to parliamentary information through traditional and digital platforms.
No further details have been provided regarding the duration of her acting appointment or whether a substantive recruitment process for the position will be undertaken.
