KAMPALA — The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has clarified that travellers entering Uganda are not currently required to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate as a condition of entry.

In a statement issued Monday, UTB said visitors to Uganda are exempt from the requirement to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate at entry.

“We wish to inform all visitors to the country that a yellow fever vaccination certificate is not currently a mandatory requirement for entry,” the board said.

The clarification comes amid questions from travellers and tourism stakeholders about Uganda’s entry requirements.

UTB urged travellers and tourism industry players to rely on official government channels for the latest information on immigration and entry requirements.

“UTB advises travellers and industry participants to consult official Government of Uganda platforms for the most current and precise details concerning immigration and entry protocols,” the statement said.

The board said the clarification applies to the current entry requirements and advised travellers to check for any subsequent changes before travelling.

Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease, and vaccination requirements can vary depending on a traveller’s country of origin, transit history and destination.

The Uganda Tourism Board is a statutory body established in 1994 and is responsible for marketing and promoting Uganda as a tourism destination, as well as supporting quality assurance, tourism investment and coordination with the private sector.
