Entebbe – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met with former Nigerian President, H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, at State House Entebbe for high-level discussions on bilateral trade, regional peace, and security.
During the meeting, the two leaders explored ways to strengthen economic ties between Uganda and Nigeria, with a particular focus on trade opportunities in the dairy sector.
President Museveni emphasised Uganda’s commitment to expanding its exports to Nigeria and other African markets, highlighting the potential for enhanced cooperation in agriculture and industry.

On matters of security, President Museveni and H.E. Obasanjo exchanged views on stabilising the region, addressing conflicts, and fostering peace-building initiatives.
The discussions underscored the importance of African-led solutions to security challenges, with both leaders advocating for strengthened collaboration among nations.

“We discussed the security situation in the region, and H.E. was here to follow up on trade opportunities between Uganda and Nigeria, particularly in the dairy sector. I would like to extend a warm welcome to him,” said Museveni after the meeting.
H.E. Obasanjo, who has remained active in African diplomacy and economic affairs, reaffirmed his commitment to fostering stronger relations between Uganda and Nigeria.
