KISOZI, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held talks with the Special Envoy of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, focusing on regional security and efforts to address instability in eastern Congo.
The meeting took place on Monday at President Museveni’s Kisozi Farm in Gomba District, where the two discussed matters of mutual interest, with particular attention to the security situation in eastern DRC.
In a statement after the meeting, President Museveni said peace and stability in the region remain critical for economic growth and the wellbeing of citizens.
“This morning at my Kisozi Farm, I received Mr. Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, the Special Envoy of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly the security situation in eastern DRC,” Museveni said.
He added that Uganda would continue working with regional partners to address challenges affecting eastern Congo.
“Peace and stability in our region remain essential for the prosperity of our people, and we shall continue working together with our regional partners to address the challenges facing eastern Congo,” the President said.
The discussions come amid continued regional efforts to find lasting solutions to insecurity in eastern DRC, where armed groups and political tensions have contributed to instability for decades.
Uganda has previously participated in regional initiatives aimed at restoring peace in eastern Congo, including diplomatic engagements under the East African Community and other regional frameworks.
The meeting with the DRC envoy is part of ongoing high-level engagements between Uganda and the DRC as both countries seek to strengthen cooperation on security, trade and regional stability.
