President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni joined thousands of National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters in Lango Sub-region to celebrate his recent electoral victory, in a show of gratitude and renewed engagement with the people.
The celebrations, held at Lango College Grounds, drew large crowds from across the sub-region, reflecting strong support for the President and the ruling party.
In his address, President Museveni thanked Ugandans for their continued trust and emphasised the role of unity in the country’s progress. “I thank God for the unity the people of Uganda have continued to show us. It is God who has kept us united,” he said.

He commended the people of Lango for what he described as wise and overwhelming support during the recent general elections, and called on leaders to ensure that government wealth-creation programmes reach all intended beneficiaries.
The President directed local leaders to closely track the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM), urging a household-by-household approach to ensure no one is left behind. “Leaders should be specific—parish by parish—on how many homesteads have benefited, because those who receive support are able to move out of poverty,” he said.
He also tasked Members of Parliament to monitor the distribution of Emyooga funds, particularly among the youth at the constituency level.

President Museveni further revealed plans for a new initiative to support farmers through the distribution of coffee seedlings and fruit planting materials. He noted that seedlings would be grown on his land in Baralegi and other government-owned land for free distribution.
The President reiterated the importance of peace, stability, and economic transformation, calling on citizens to focus on wealth creation, job generation, and improving household incomes.
He, however, issued a stern warning against corruption, particularly in government programmes.

“Do not tolerate corrupt individuals. No one should deduct money from your PDM funds—there is enough space in Luzira,” he cautioned.
President Museveni also encouraged the people of Lango to embrace hard work as a pathway to prosperity, before once again thanking them for their strong electoral support.
“Thank you for the massive votes you gave me. May God bless you,” he said.

Lira City Woman Member of Parliament and Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, welcomed the President to the region and commended him for driving Uganda’s transformation over the past four decades. She cited key initiatives such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, and applauded improvements in service delivery.
Dr. Aceng highlighted advancements in healthcare in the sub-region, noting that complex procedures such as heart surgery, brain surgery, and dialysis are now conducted at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
Government Chief Whip, Hon. Hamson Obua, also praised the people of Lango for their support of the NRM, describing the election outcome as a “triumphant victory.”

Ambassador Joseph Ocwet, Director General of the External Security Organisation (ESO), commended the President for sustained investment in infrastructure, education, and security, which he said has significantly improved livelihoods in the region.
Earlier in the day, President Museveni laid a wreath in memory of the late Anthony Ocwet and his wife, the late Mrs. Carolyn Akullu Ocwet.
The event was attended by ministers, religious and cultural leaders, NRM officials, and other dignitaries.
