KAMPALA – Kampala Queens FC forward Joanitah Ainembabazi capped a remarkable FUFA Women’s Cup campaign by winning both the Golden Boot and Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards after leading her side to a historic maiden title.
Ainembabazi delivered a consistent string of match-winning performances throughout the tournament, scoring in every game she played and emerging as the driving force behind Kampala Queens’ successful cup run.
Her goals proved crucial from the opening rounds to the final, helping the club overcome some of the strongest teams in women’s football to secure its first-ever FUFA Women’s Cup crown.
The prolific striker opened her account in Kampala Queens’ 4-1 victory over She Kasese WFC before scoring the decisive goal in a hard-fought 1-0 quarter-final win against St Noa Girls FC.
She maintained her impressive form in the semi-finals, finding the back of the net in both legs against Lady Doves FC as Kampala Queens advanced to the final with a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory.
Ainembabazi then saved her best for last, producing one of the competition’s most memorable moments in the final against Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC. Her spectacular overhead kick helped seal victory and secure the club’s first major cup triumph.

Speaking after receiving her individual accolades, Ainembabazi attributed her success to the collective effort of the team.
“I am grateful to my teammates, coaches and everyone who supported us during the tournament. Winning the trophy was our main target and I am happy I was able to contribute with goals in every match,” she said.
“Being named MVP and top scorer is special, but it is a reward for the work we put in as a team,” Ainembabazi added.
Kampala Queens assistant coach Shafic Mutebi praised the forward’s impact and consistency throughout the competition.
“Joanitah has been exceptional throughout the tournament. We rely on her positioning, strength and speed,” Mutebi said.
“She always finds the right spaces and gives us a big advantage in attack. She stepped up in every important moment and was crucial to our success,” he added.
Ainembabazi finished the tournament with five goals in five matches, earning the Golden Boot as the competition’s top scorer while also claiming the MVP award.
Her outstanding campaign not only powered Kampala Queens to a historic FUFA Women’s Cup triumph but also cemented her status as one of the standout performers in Ugandan women’s football this season.
