Forum for Democratic Change has blamed speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga for not reigning in on the chaos on the floor of parliament last week when legislators fought.
Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Najjankumbi on Monday, FDC deputy spokesperson Paul Mwiru said Kadaga had all avenues to avert the chaos but never did it.
“The sanctity of parliament was abused by someone who was supposed to be its custodian, “Mwiru said.
“She handed MPs over to strangers who mishandled them.”
Mwiru said that Kadaga should have adjourned parliament to another sitting and deny access to suspended legislators in a bid to calm the situation.
The FDC deputy spokesperson said the act of allowing security agencies to storm parliament was appalling and led to more chaos.
“The seargent at arms is the one who was supposed to handle MPs but allowing in other security agencies was wrong.”
“The MPs therefore acted in defence after being attacked by strangers,” he said.
Mwiru added that allowing security organs to enter parliament can only be equated to overthrowing the August house and the Constitution.
