Namboole – Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) played a pivotal role in Uganda’s athletics history as the official hydration partner of the “100 Years of Excellence and Dedication to Sports” celebration.

Held at Mandela National Stadium, the centenary event marked a century of organised athletics in Uganda, serving as a powerful tribute to national pride, unity, and sporting achievement.

The landmark celebration was more than a commemorative event—it represented a meaningful alignment between Uganda Athletics and CCBU, two institutions deeply committed to creating shared value and driving community impact.

“As the official hydration partner, we were incredibly proud to support this historic milestone that honoured a century of sporting excellence in Uganda,” said Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Director at CCBU. “This partnership underscores our continued commitment to creating a positive and lasting impact while contributing to a better shared future.”

Throughout the event, CCBU ensured hydration for athletes, officials, and attendees by exclusively supplying Rwenzori Mineral Water, reaffirming its position as a trusted partner in Uganda’s sporting journey. The partnership elevated CCBU’s presence at one of the most significant milestones in Uganda’s sports history.

The centenary celebrations featured a vibrant programme of activities, including the 10km Fun Run, John Akii Bua Memorial Invitational, 2000m Steeple Chase, and the 4x100m Corporate Relay. Patriotic flair was added through ceremonial band processions led by the Uganda Police and the Uganda Prisons Services, setting a festive and reflective tone for the day.

Beatrice Ayikoru, Secretary General of Uganda Athletics, acknowledged the value of the partnership: “Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda’s role as the official hydration partner in this historic occasion signalled their commitment not just to business growth, but to the cultural and social fabric of our nation. This was a partnership rooted in shared values and mutual respect.”

CCBU’s involvement in the centenary event continued its long-standing support for sports development in Uganda. From grassroots initiatives to flagship sporting events, the company has consistently delivered purpose-driven partnerships that extend beyond commercial interests to uplift communities.

More than a celebration of the past, the centenary marked the beginning of a new era. And with CCBU standing beside Uganda Athletics as a hydration partner, the next 100 years of sporting excellence promise to be even more impactful.
