President Museveni has reappointed Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Charles Kataratambi as the Director of Human Rights and Legal Services in the latest police reshuffle.
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda and the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces made new appointments and redeployments in and from the Uganda Police Force.
The President appointed Abbas Byakagaba as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and James Ochaya as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP).
Kataratambi, the former Special Investigations Division commander, returned to his position as Director of Human Rights and Legal Services.
A lawyer by profession, Kataratambi joined the police in 2001 as a police cadet.
He was transferred to the Land Police Protection unit, then later made the commandant of the Flying Squad, from where he was sent to the Special Investigations Division as the commandant in May 2013.
In other appointments, Major General Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi went back to the UPDF for redeployment while Major General Kandiho Abel has been redeployed to the President’s Office as a Senior Presidential Advisor.
AIGP Nuwagira John is the Director of Field Force Unit, AIGP Twaruhuukwa Erasmus is Director of Research and Planning, AIGP Kaali Fadhil- Director Fire and Rescue Services, SCP Waswa David- Director Counter Terrorism and SCP Kafeero Moses- Director Human Resource Development and Training.
Others are; SCP Mwesigwa Frank- Director Operations, SCP Namutebi Hadijja-Director Welfare and Production, SCP Bamunoba Ubaldo- Chief Political Commissar, SCP Baryamwisaki Felix- Director ICT while Brigadier Golooba Godfrey goes back to the UPDF for redeployment.
“All other affected police officers, will be reassigned other duties by the new Inspector General of Police,” said SCP Fred Enanga, Press and Public Relations Officer of Uganda Police Force.
He added: “The entire police fraternity, would like to congratulate all newly appointed officers, whose background in law enforcement and policing, will enable them to effectively lead, the men and women of the Uganda Police Force, and promote top-quality policing, as they continue to secure our country and make all people feel safe. We are confident they will embrace the changes necessary to bring out the best from the dynamic and committed workforce of the police.”
