The Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Mario Obiga Kania has assured Parliament that government is doing its best to investigate and arrest the assassins that gunned down the former Buyende District Police Commander (DPC), ASP Muhammd Kirumira alongside her female friend, Resty Mbabazi Nalinya.
The Minister was reporting back to the house following demands by members for a report from government over Kirumira’s murder that happened on Saturday 8 September 2018 as he was heading back to his home in Bulenga.
The Minister informed members that Police is still following all leads to have the perpetrators arrested and brought to book adding that currently no arrests have been made.
Kania said, “The deceased persons were shot by unknown persons traveling on numberless motor-cycles armed with two guns; they thereafter boarded their motor cycles, rode towards Rubaga on Mityana road and disappeared from the public,” Obiga said.
He told members that the exhibits were recovered from the crime scene which included; cartridges, heads of projectile and blood samples that have been sent for investigations.
“The Police are investigating the murder of the two as a criminal act to establish the motive and possibly apprehend those that are responsible.”
“No arrests have so far been made but some suspects are being questioned by the police investigations team; the Police appeals to the public and any eye witness with information to pass it to the nearby police station.”
