The State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Fr. Simon Lokodo has called upon African Leaders to walk the talk and be truthful in their endeavor to ensure sustainable peace and development in the continent.
This, he noted while speaking at the 6th Global Peace Leadership Conference (GPLC) at Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo under the theme: “Moral and Innovative Leadership; New models for Sustainable peace and development”.
The Minister said that peace can only be peace if leaders choose to uphold moral values and be men of integrity and able to cherish values which can only build peace and unity in society.
“We need leaders in the region that walk the talk, that are truthful, good, moral and ethical leaders who lead by example,” Lokodo said.
Lokodo said that in the 21 century Africa needs leaders of character not wealth seekers who lead not because of aparthy but act at a proper moment so that they can instill peace, harmony and positive co-existence of the people they lead.
He noted that Africa is characterized by unethical leaders who are corrupt and are in power to rule but not to lead, which he said has affected the development of the continent.
“Africa is yearning and looking for loving, caring and selfless leaders who are there for the good of their citizens,” he said.
