State House will require a total of Shs 10.87 billion to fund refurbishment of the State House Complex in the next financial year 2018/19, officials have revealed.

They were before the Presidential Affairs committee to defend the Ministerial Policy Statement which is at the total of Shs 274 billion.

Nakyobe told legislators sitting on the Committee that a total of Shs 41.12 billion is required as capital development, out of which Shs 10.87 billion will fund the refurbishment of the State House Complex that has not been worked on in the last 10 years.

Another Shs 10 billion will cater for more updated security equipment while Shs 8 billion will be used for an overhaul of the old fleet to streamline transportation.

Nakyobe as well revealed that the security of President Yoweri Museveni and his close family members requires a sum of Shs 116.50 billion.

“There was a 10% (Shs 8.742 billion) budget cut on consumptive items like travel inland, allowances, special meals in the FY2017/18,” Nakyobe said in defense.

She also requested for Shs 134.5 billion as desired amount to clear presidential pledges and donations made in the recent past.

Nakyobe was however tasked to avail a list of the outstanding pledges to the committee which she noted she would provide in the next meeting.
