Makerere University has announced the appointment of Ms Eunice Rukundo as its new Deputy Chief, Public Relations, marking a strategic addition to the institution’s communications and stakeholder engagement team.
With over 10 years of experience in media and communication, Ms Rukundo brings a wealth of expertise in strategic storytelling, institutional branding, and public engagement. She holds a Master’s degree in Digital Media, Culture, and Education, as well as a Master’s in International Relations.
In a statement shared via the university’s official channels, Makerere described her appointment as an exciting step in strengthening its visibility and public image. “We are delighted to introduce Eunice, our new Deputy Chief, Public Relations,” the statement read. “Eunice, you will enjoy working with us!”
Her background in both traditional and digital communication is expected to enhance Makerere University’s outreach and engagement with diverse audiences, including students, alumni, partners, and the global academic community.
Makerere University also encouraged staff and students to warmly welcome Ms Rukundo, expressing confidence that her leadership will contribute to advancing the institution’s reputation as a hub of excellence in higher education and innovation.

Who is Rukundo?
She started in mainstream media as a journalist and editor before segueing into media consultancy, training and Communications. In her career, she has worked with NMG, ACME, Forum for Women in Democracy and consulted for other NGOs on various projects.
Rukundo holds an M.A. in Digital Media, Culture, and Education from the University of London; an M.A. in International Relations from Liverpool John Moores University – UK; a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Uganda Management Institute (UMI) – Kampala; and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Makerere University, Kampala. She is also a certified Media Viability Consultant.
