The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has recognised the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) for its outstanding contribution to the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) during the 44th Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations held in Greater Masaka in February 2025.
On Wednesday, August 20, Lt Gen James Mugira, NEC’s Managing Director, received a token of appreciation on behalf of the corporation. The award was delivered at NEC headquarters in Bugolobi, Kampala, by Brig Gen Michael Kibuye, Director of Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC), who represented the CDF.

During the anniversary celebrations, NEC donated essential items including mattresses, delivery beds, and scholastic materials. The support, officials said, demonstrated NEC’s continued commitment to the welfare of troops and to broader national development efforts.
Speaking after receiving the recognition, Lt Gen Mugira expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership, noting that the gesture underscored the longstanding partnership between NEC and the defence forces. “This recognition reaffirms our shared values and goals with the UPDF. NEC will continue to stand firm in supporting the forces and contributing to the development of our country,” he said.

The token of appreciation highlights NEC’s central role as the commercial arm of the UPDF, bridging military service and national development while strengthening civil–military relations.
