VIVO Energy Boosts UPDF Children’s Christmas Party with Shs 2.4M

VIVO Energy has given a financial and logistical boost towards the success of the UPDF childrens’ Christmas party due to take place on December 12, in Kakiri barracks.

Speaking on behalf of VIVO Energy, the Managing Director, Gilbert Asii said the company was proud to partner in service with the UPDF since this goes to the support of defence in the country.

Asii also remarked that supporting the UPDF children to enjoy their Christmas party is part of VIVO Energy’s corporate social responsibility towards Ugandans.

They are happy to be bring some joy to the future soldiers of the nation in the Christmas season which is a period of giving, he said.

In his remarks, Lt Col Deo Akiiki, the Deputy Defence Spokesperson who represented the UPDF, thanked VIVO Energy for coming up as the first corporate organization to support the function and always working towards maintaining the good relationship between the UPDF and VIVO Energy.

He further thanked them for giving a helping hand and urged all the other corporate organizations to emulate the gesture.

The Christmas kids’ party will be presided over by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi

The VIVO Energy MD later handed over a cheque worth Shs 2.4 million, Shs 1.4 million of which will be in form of fuel and the remaining Shs 1 million to fund the logistical needs of the day.

The party is organized by Reach out Wives of Soldiers Association (ROWASA), an umbrella organization for wives of soldiers based in Bombo.

Its primary objective is to empower soldiers’ wives with skills to transform them and their families.

The an annual event brings together children of soldiers to celebrate Christmas and an estimated 1,452 children are expected to attend.
