NEW JERSEY, USA — Uganda’s Triplets Ghetto Kids have taken the country’s creative talent to one of the world’s biggest stages after performing alongside global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy during the historic FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show.

The Kampala-based dance group joined Shakira and Burna Boy in performing the World Cup anthem Dai Dai during the first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show at the FIFA World Cup final, attracting global attention for their energetic choreography and performance.

Spain defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the tournament, but Uganda’s Ghetto Kids emerged among the most celebrated highlights of the final entertainment programme.

Following their performance, the group described the moment as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Performing at the World Cup Halftime Show with Shakira was an experience we will carry with us for a lifetime,” the Triplets Ghetto Kids posted.

The group thanked Shakira, FIFA, Burna Boy, Global Citizen, fellow Ugandans and their partners for supporting their journey.

“Thank you to @shakira, @fifaworldcup, @GlblCtzn, @burnaboy, @FIFAcom, fellow Ugandans and fans, and our partners @mtnug and @ExploreUganda,” they said.

The performance was celebrated by Ugandan institutions, with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) describing the appearance as a proud moment for the country’s creative industry and global image.

“Our very own @ghettokidstfug delivered a show-stopping performance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final halftime show alongside global music icons @shakira and @burnaboy,” UTB said.

The tourism agency said the group’s journey, talent and energy continue to showcase the vibrant spirit of Uganda to audiences around the world.

“Your journey, talent, and energy continue to inspire the world while proudly showcasing the vibrant spirit of Uganda. Congratulations, @ghettokidstfug. We are all incredibly proud of you,” UTB added.

The Ghetto Kids’ appearance followed a remarkable rise from the streets of Kampala to international recognition. The group, formed through a Kampala-based initiative supporting vulnerable children through dance, gained global popularity through viral online videos showcasing their unique choreography and youthful energy.

Their performances have previously taken them to international stages, including appearances in music videos and global entertainment platforms.

The group’s invitation to perform with Shakira reportedly followed the singer’s discovery of their viral dance videos earlier in the year. Their growing relationship with the global star eventually led to an invitation to join her World Cup halftime performance.

The performance also drew praise from Ugandan artists and cultural leaders, who said the moment demonstrated the potential of Uganda’s creative sector.

Singer Eddy Kenzo congratulated the group, saying their appearance showed that talent from Uganda could reach the highest international platforms. “There are moments that are evident enough to us that the world is watching Uganda,” Kenzo said.

He added that the performance represented more than entertainment. “This is bigger than dance. It is bigger than entertainment. It is yet another proof that a dream born in the streets of Kampala can inspire billions across the globe.”

The FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show was designed as a global entertainment spectacle, bringing together some of the world’s biggest performers while celebrating culture and creativity alongside football.

For the Triplets Ghetto Kids, the performance marked another chapter in a journey that began in Kampala’s communities and reached one of the largest sporting audiences in the world.
