Last week, the governments of the United States of America and the United Kingdom announced travel restrictions to Uganda over the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Uganda.
But Dr Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, said the virus has only been reported in five districts of Mubende, Kassanda, Kyegegwa, Kagadi and Bunyagabu.
According to her, all these districts are more than 100km away from the capital city, Kampala.
“The rest of the country is free from Ebola and there are no travel restrictions,” she noted.
Meanwhile, over 60 officers supporting Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) in Mubende and other high risk districts started a three-day Training on RCCE for Ebola and other Public Health emergencies.
The training is organized by Africa CDC and the Ministry of Health.
