The communications regulator says the radio stations have been promoting and advertising witchcraft content as well as aiding and abetting electronic fraud.

They affected stations are: Metro FM, Nile FM, Kagadi Broadcasting Services, Emambya FM, Village Club FM, Radio Kitara, Packwach FM, Tropical FM, Apex FM, Bamboo FM, Ssebo FM, Eastern Voice FM, Eye FM, Victoria FM, RFM, Kiira FM, Tiger FM, Greater African Radio, Dana FM, Gold FM, Hits FM, Dembe FM, and Radio 5.

Ankunda told SoftPower News that the radio stations have been conniving with elements that promote witchcraft through electronic platforms.

“If you listen to the content, they bring in people who say that if you send Mobile Money, say Shs 20,000 or Shs 30,000 and you recite certain words, you will find millions under your bed,” Ankunda told this website.

According to the laws, any financial related crime committed using electronic gadgets or media, tantamounts to electronic fraud.

Ankunda revealed that the affected radio stations have been instructed to switch off their transmissions until they commit that they will commit to minimum broadcasting requirements.

She said that the broadcasters had prior to the suspension been issued warnings.
