UCC sacks staff for disobeying transfer directive

Uganda Communications Commission has sacked Josephine Akulia, an Assistant Officer–Administration Corporate Affairs, for insubordination.

The regulator said in a letter dated August 1, 2017 that Akulia refused to transfer to a new duty station hence the termination of her contract.

UCC executive director, Godfrey Mutabazi, states that Akulia was on June 13, 2017 transferred to Mbale Regional Office to commence work by June 19, 2017.

Akulia has yet to start her duties as directed.

“Your employment contract has been terminated with immediate effect,” Mutabazi wrote in a letter copied to Director Finance, Director Human Resource and Administration, Senior Officer Regional Office in Mbale town.

The ED directed Akulia to handover the commission properties in her possession.
