State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with Uganda Police Friday arraigned at Buganda Road Court two officials on charges of uttering false documents and conspiracy to commit a felony.
They are; Kizito Leonard and Muganiira Apollo, a Community Development Officer of Bukomera Town Council, Kiboga district.
They have been remanded till November 14, 2022.
The accused allegedly presented false documents to the Administrator General with the intention of fraudulently acquiring certificates of no objection for eight deceased persons, claiming that the families of the deceased agreed they be given the letters of administration whereas not.
Earlier, the unit arrested and arraigned six teachers to the Kanungu Chief Magistrates Court on charges of forgery and uttering false documents.
The accused allegedly forged appointment letters and posting instructions purportedly signed by the Ministry of Education and the Education Service Commission.
The accused have been using the forged documents to teach in government-aided institutions like; Nyakatare Tech Institute, Bishop Comboni College and Kihihi High School.
In total, they have caused the government a loss of UGX500m in salaries and allowances paid to them. They have been remanded till November 17, 2022.
On November 4, Adiga Aloyscious and Kalyebi Denis were convicted and sentenced to 8 and 12 years imprisonment, respectively on charges of forgery and uttering false documents.
They were ordered to pay UGX15M each as compensation to Government.
The two forged appointment letters, posting instructions, and introductory letters purportedly signed by the Principal Human Resource Officer at the Ministry of Education and the Education Service Commission to secure teaching jobs at Nyamango Technical Institute in Kyenjojo district.
On November 3, the unit arraigned Muwonge Issa before KCCA Chief Magistrates Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Muwonge and others still at large defrauded Kenyan nationals of UGX 2Bn.
Muwonge who was working as a Personal Assistant to a Member of Parliament claimed that the company of the Kenyans had gotten a contract to supply generators to different hospitals in Uganda, whereas not.
He was remanded till November 21, 2022.
