A male Congolese national and his girlfriend have Thursday morning been shot dead by a security guard in Kabalagala in Kampala, Police say.
Police has identified the deceased are Katembo Siviwe, 33, a Congolese national and his girlfriend whose name is yet to be established.
The shooting took place today 19th August around 1am in the morning at Katembo’s place in Bukasa, Makindye Division Kampala City.
It is alleged that Raphael Okwanga, a security guard of D-GAP, guarding the victims’ home, allegedly got annoyed over yet to be known reason and shot dead Katembo and his girlfriend.
In the similar incident, the deceased’s caretaker, whose name is also yet to be established was injured. She is currently admitted at IHK Hospital.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigire, police responded after being informed about the incident and arrested the suspect.
“The suspect, Okwanga, was arrested and is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station on allegations of murder,” ASP Owoyesigire says.
He says the bodies of the deceased persons have been conveyed to the city mortuary at Mulago for a post mortem.
Police has also recovered the killer weapon and cartridges as well as securing the crime scene for further analysis.
Owoyesigire adds that some of the exhibits have already been submitted for analysis at our Forensic Services laboratory and that the case file will be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.
