The former Deputy Chief Justice, Laetitia Kikonyogo Mukasa has passed on at Mulago Hospital in Kampala.
Justice Kikonyogo was a woman of many firsts in Uganda’s public life.
She was the first lady magistrate Grade I (1971-1973) and was later appointed as the first lady Chief Magistrate (1973-1986).
She was the first woman to be appointed High Court judge (1986) and sat on the Court of Appeal to hear criminal appeals.
The former Deputy Chief Justice was the first woman in that position in Uganda.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
