President Yoweri Museveni has received and held a meeting with the new United Nations Special Envoy to Burundi, Michael Kafando, who called on him on Monday at State House, Entebbe.
Kafando, a seasoned Burkinabé diplomat was appointed in May this year by UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
President Museveni and his guest discussed the ongoing peace dialogue in Burundi.
Kafando’s role entails leading and coordinating the UN political efforts to promote peace and sustainable developments in Burundi as well as providing assistance to the efforts of the East African Community (EAC) for political dialogue among Burundi stakeholders.
Kafando was accompanied by the United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP representative in Uganda, Rosa Malango.
