More than 170 youths have graduated from MunguFeni Foundation after completing a three-month vocational skills training programme in Arua City.

The graduates were trained in various disciplines, including hairdressing, tailoring and garment cutting, as part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to empower vulnerable communities across the West Nile region.

During the graduation ceremony, leaders and stakeholders commended MunguFeni Foundation for its significant contribution to livelihood empowerment through hands-on skills training.

Speaking at the event, the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Arua City, Betty Akello Otekat, encouraged the graduates to treat the skills they had acquired as a foundation for transforming their lives.

She emphasised that vocational skills offer a clear pathway to self-reliance and urged the beneficiaries to enrol in government livelihood initiatives, such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), to expand their income-generating activities.

The Principal Education Officer of Arua City, Raymond Ombere, highlighted the importance of resilience and hard work, advising graduates to upgrade their skills and cultivate a saving culture continuously.

Administrator at MunguFeni Foundation, Lawrence Econi, revealed that the organisation has trained over 300 persons in Arua City this year alone.

He encouraged graduates to put their skills into practice by starting personal businesses, noting that practical application is key to long-term economic independence.

The event also saw the foundation and its leaders engage more with the community. Feni noted that the foundation is currently implementing five to six community projects, targeting over 300 youths, orphans, and underprivileged individuals, including the unemployed, to help them improve their livelihoods and create jobs for themselves.

Mungu Feni Foundation operates without external funding, mobilising local resources to address pressing community needs. The foundation earlier signed an MoU with the NGO Forum, which supports 50% of its empowerment activities.

Benard Feni said the organisation was established to empower vulnerable individuals and communities through compassion, service, and faith.

“The foundation was founded to uplift and transform lives through charity, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable development, guided by Christian values and the belief that with God, all things are possible,” he noted.
