Makindye based music producer, Jonathan Muwanguzi (Producer Jonah) and a local musician, David Mugema have been remanded to Luzira by Buganda Road magistrate’s court for offensive communication against President Yoweri Museveni.
The duo were Tuesday charged by Grade One magistrate, Gladys Kamasanyu with offensive communication to which they pleaded not guilty.
But given that the state prosecutors from Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) were absent on other official duties, the bail application by Muwanguzi and Mugema was not successful.
The magistrate has remanded them until tomorrow (Wednesday) when their application for bail will be heard.
Prosecution alleges that between 2015 and 2017, Jonathan Muwanguzi, the producer together with the singer (Mugema) and others who are still at large composed and recorded a song titled ‘Wumula’ (retire) with no purpose of legitimate communication.
