ENTEBBE, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has received Letters of Credence from five newly appointed ambassadors representing the United Arab Emirates, China, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany.
The envoys presented their credentials to the President at State House Entebbe, formally marking the beginning of their diplomatic assignments in Uganda.
The new ambassadors are Fahad Abdulrahman Ali Al Bishr of the United Arab Emirates, Wu Guangrong of the People’s Republic of China, Angele van der Heijden-Samura of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Anna-Maria Olsson of the Kingdom of Sweden and Sigrid Ingelore Luise Sommer of the Federal Republic of Germany.
President Museveni welcomed the envoys to Uganda and wished them success as they take up their diplomatic responsibilities.
Their appointments come as Uganda seeks to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation with international partners across trade, investment, infrastructure, development, technology and other areas of mutual interest.
The accreditation of the five ambassadors is expected to provide a platform for Uganda to deepen its existing relationships with the respective countries and pursue new areas of cooperation.
The government said it looks forward to working with the envoys to strengthen bilateral ties and promote the bonds of friendship between Uganda and their respective countries.
The UAE, China, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany are among Uganda’s important international partners, with relations spanning economic cooperation, development assistance, investment, trade and diplomatic engagement.
The ceremony was attended by Vincent Bagiire Waiswa, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Henry Mayega.
