KAMPALA – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The appointment was communicated in a letter dated June 22, 2026, in which President Museveni invoked his constitutional powers to designate Hon. Kasolo to oversee the ministry in the absence of a substantive minister.
“In exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 99(1) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint you as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the absence of a substantive Minister,” President Museveni wrote in the appointment letter.
Hon. Kasolo currently serves as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation.
The appointment ensures continuity in the leadership and operations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as government continues to advance Uganda’s diplomatic, regional and international engagements.
Hon. Kasolo has been actively involved in promoting regional integration, strengthening Uganda’s bilateral relations and advancing the country’s interests within regional and international frameworks through his current portfolio.
The Presidential Press Unit said the appointment takes immediate effect.
