Banda—Kyambogo University has dismissed and suspended several students following disciplinary actions taken by the University Council during its meeting on June 27, 2025.

The decision follows recommendations from the Students’ Affairs and Welfare Committee, which reviewed cases of indiscipline, misconduct, and violations of university regulations.

In a public statement released Friday, the university announced that Benjamin Akiso has been dismissed with immediate effect, while Kayemba Muhamed, Muganzi Asaph, Murozi Abel, Kiptoo Ivan Cheywa, Mwesigwa Timothy, Okello Emmanuel, Okello Pascal Brian, Kazuura Pius, and Nanziga Julius have been suspended for one academic year (the 2025/2026 Academic Year). Kasimira Frene has been suspended for one semester.

These disciplinary measures were issued in accordance with Regulation 37(m) of the Kyambogo University Students’ Regulations of 2003, as amended in 2016.

Several other students received warnings for their conduct, including Kabuni Evalyn, Ninsima Winnie, Namanya Basajja Hillary, Muguluma Wahab, Akorimo Abraham, Ofo Alfred, Negesa Nicholas, Nakiimuli Sharon and Namara Peace.

Meanwhile, Kaujubi Makwin has been referred to the Senate for academic-related issues. Three students—Waiswa Joel Vicent, Abigaba Cornelius, and Ochen Masana—were acquitted of all charges after the investigations.

The university emphasised that the sanctions were imposed on students who had been involved in “indiscipline and misconduct”, including participation in unauthorised meetings, demonstrations, and other prohibited activities. Management warned all students to refrain from such behaviour and to adhere to the Kyambogo University Students’ Guild Constitution and policies.

“These disciplinary actions serve as a reminder that student conduct must align with the university’s values of integrity, responsibility, and service,” the statement read. The notice was issued under the authority of the University Management.
