The Ugandan Parliamentary football team has been crowned football champions in the interregional games, which have been taking place in Tanzania. Uganda beat Tanzania 2-1 in a highly physical game.
Uganda’s first goal came from the Makindye legislator, Allan Ssewanyana who scored in the 77th minute.
MP Arinaitwe Brian, scored the second goal in the 85th minute with opponents Tanzania scoring only one goal.
On Monday, Uganda beat Kenya 7 goals to nil with Kampala MP Muhammad Nsereko scoring 3 goals, Peter Ogwang and Arinaitwe Brian scoring a brace each.
Uganda has defended the title is secured last year and now the team’s captain, Ssewanyana is optimistic the trend will continue.
“Uganda is a giant, none of these East African teams can manage us. We shall continue winning even in the next years”, said Ssewanyana in an interview with SoftPower News.
Meanwhile, the Ugandan netball team will play the EALA team tomorrow Friday. Uganda’s game with Tanzania which was cancelled today due to poor refereeing has been rescheduled to Sunday.
The tournament is aimed at fostering regional cooperation and friendship.
