The former student of St Lawrence Paris Palais campus had gone to Makerere University to pick her application forms but has not been seen since.

Her mother says she has been trying to call her friends asking if anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of the daughter but with no success.

They fear she could have been abducted.

In recent months, Uganda has been gripped with fear as cases of kidnaps continue to be common. While in some of the instances Police have managed to track down the criminals and rescue the captives, some cases have resulted in deaths.

However, Police has also repeatedly warned against the new trend of people (especially young people) staging their own kidnap with the intent to defraud their parents of money.

On Tuesday this week, Peace Ansimirwe, a 19-year-old student together with her boyfriend, Julius Atwebembeire, 22, were remanded to Luzira prison for hatching a plan to stage Peace’s kidnap and demand ransom from her parents.

They connived and contacted her parents demanding a ransom of Shs 3 million but only Shs 750,000 had been sent to them at the time of their arrest.

The two suspects are facing charges relating to conspiracy to commit a felony, obtaining money by false pretence and demanding property with menaces.
