Hoima-based Kitara FC has added experienced skipper, Godfrey Lwesibawa, to its playing staff.
The player was officially unveiled by the club’s deputy CEO, Timothy Adyeri Kato, on Thursday evening.
Lwesibawa joins the Royals from Gaddafi Modern FC on a six months working contract with an option of extending it after June 2023.
The pacey winger who was in attendance at Kitara’s 2-1 victory over Adjumani on Thursday evening at Kigaaya play grounds penned a short-term agreement and is expected to join us after the first round of the FUFA big league.
Lwesibawa who becomes the first signing of Kitara in the January window comes with a wealth of experience having previously featured for SC Villa, Tooro United FC, Express FC and the Uganda Sand Cranes.
His signature was a subject of interest from many other clubs but accepted to join the Royals and could not hide his joy upon appending his signature to the Kitara’s contract.
”I believe this is the right choice and place for me to be, Kitara is an exciting club and I want to pledge my hard work and commitment to them. I love the fans, and their passion and want to thank the club president Deo Kasozi for giving me this opportunity. I will give them my best and most importantly help my team return to the top flight,” the player said.
The Uganda Sand Cranes forward brings quality pus experience and is expected to compete on the right wing with former Tooro United teammate Davis Ssali, and also inspire youngsters Lazaro Bwambale and Stewart Akugizibwe.
“Besides pace, Lwesibawa is known for his set-piece deliveries, leadership and goal-scoring attributes and will be a valuable addition to our squad in the second round as we continue to pursue a return to the Uganda premier league,” management said in a statement.
