The Territorial Police in Katonga and Mpigi district have in custody an Italian national for the alleged rape of a 23-year-old maid on September 5, 2023, at around 5 pm.

SCP Enanga Fred, Police Spokesperson, identified the suspect as Forouzesh Patrick, a 53-year-old, former Bunamweri village, Mpigi town council.

“The facts gathered indicate that the suspect met the victim at her sister’s place, who deals in chicken feed at Mpami village, and offered her a job as a housemaid at a monthly pay of Ugx 200.000/=,” said Enanga.

According to Enanga, the victim started work the following day September 4, 2023.

“…but while cleaning the table, she was grabbed by the suspect, dragged into the sofa and raped. The suspect claimed it was common to have sex during rain.”

Enanga said the victim informed her sister and on September 6, 2023, the matter was reported at Mpigi police station.

“The victim was medically examined and DNA samples were obtained. The suspect was arrested and examined on PF 24a,” Enanga revealed.

He added: “We continue to investigate such kinds of suspects who take advantage of female workers and sexually assault them. The police in coordination with the ODPP will ensure the suspect is charged to court to help bring justice to the victim.”
