Apostle Grace Lubega and church members at Phaneroo Ministries have set a new Guinness World Record for the longest applause.
The new time set at 3 hours and 20 minutes on Sunday evening will have to be verified by the Guinness World Record before certification.
Members of Phaneroo International Ministries in Kampala embarked on a hand-clapping contest dubbed “Clap for Jesus” meant to run for three hours and 16 minutes.
It was running under the hashtag #ClapForJesusWorldRecord on Twitter.
They actually managed to beat the July 20, 2019, Guinness World Record set by Clark Stevens and the Festival of Awesomeness at UK Coventry.
Stevens Clark is the current record holder having set it on July 20, 2019, at the Festival of Awesomeness in the UK and which lasted for 2 hours and 5 minutes.
The clapping rules include confining clapping to hands alone, no vocal noise, phones to be on silent mode, sitting or standing in one position and no bathroom breaks.
Water or soda was provided but one would continue clapping.
The clapping started at 3:48 pm at UMA Multipurpose Hall in Lugogo.
