Billionaire Elon Musk says he will resign as Twitter’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) once a replacement is found.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!” he tweeted.
He added: “After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”
A business magnate and investor, Elon Reeve Musk is the founder, CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX; angel investor, CEO and product architect of Tesla, Inc.; owner and CEO of Twitter, Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI; and president of the philanthropic Musk Foundation.
On December 19, 2022, Musk put up a poll asking followers “Should I step down as head of Twitter?”.
He even promised to abide by the result of the poll. “I will abide by the results of this poll.”

More than 17.5 million users voted. By the end of the poll, 57.5% of users vote “yes” while 42.5% voted “No” meaning the biggest number of users want him out of office.
He has been in this position since October 2022 when he bought the social media site and fired about half of its staff.
He then attempted to roll out Twitter’s paid-for verification feature before putting it on pause and again re-launching it last week.
civil liberties groups have also criticised his approach to content moderation, accusing him of taking steps that will increase hate speech and misinformation.
