President Museveni, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has made changes in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF)- Air Force.
He promoted Maj Gen Charles Okidi to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Air Force Commander.
Lt Gen Okidi has served as a pilot to President Museveni.
He also served as the Director of Operations at the Air Force headquarters in Entebbe, Nakasongola Air Force wing commander, Entebbe Air Force wing commander, Squadron commander and Officer Commanding Operations at Entebbe Air Force wing.
In March, the president appointed Gen Okidi as the deputy commander of the UPDAF.
In the new changes announced Monday night by Defence Spokesperson, Felix Kulayigye, the president also appointed Lt Gen Charles Lutaaya as a senior presidential advisor on matters of Air Forces.
Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu has been promoted to Brig Gen and appointed Deputy Air Force Commander.
