The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has launched BizLink (bizlink.ict.go.ug), a free national ICT talent marketplace designed to directly bridge the gap between skilled tech professionals and businesses seeking digital expertise.
The unveiling comes as Uganda experiences rapid expansion across its digital ecosystem driven by growth in software engineering, fintech, cloud services, data analytics, cybersecurity, business process outsourcing (BPO), and digital payments.
According to the 2023/2024- 2027/2028 Digital Transformation Roadmap, Uganda’s ICT sector has been expanding at an average annual rate of over 14.8%, contributing roughly 9% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). With over 70% of the population under 30 and tech hub activity surging across urban centres, the country produces thousands of qualified digital professionals annually.
However, despite this expanding talent pool, a number of structural bottlenecks have slowed industry growth and hindered the transition of skilled professionals into full-time employment.
For tech professionals, scaling visibility beyond personal circles to access formal, high-value opportunities remains a primary challenge, while employers frequently struggle to source verified, local tech talent efficiently. While informal word-of-mouth referrals remain common, they restrict an employer’s view of the broader talent market, often leading to prolonged hiring cycles for critical roles.
BizLink has therefore been created to address this disconnect by establishing a centralised, transparent digital bridge that connects qualified ICT professionals with companies and organisations seeking digital skills. This marketplace operates as a dual-sided marketplace tailored specifically for the technology sector, allowing IT professionals to build verified digital portfolios, highlight specialized technical skill sets, and gain direct visibility with corporate recruiters and tech firms across Uganda.
Organisations seeking qualified personnel, on the other hand, can also register, post active vacancies and directly match company requirements with verified local professionals at no cost for both individual talent and registered businesses.
The Ministry and JICA call upon tech professionals to maintain accurate and up-to-date profiles and encourage companies to list legitimate opportunities to build a sustainable network that positions local digital talent at the centre of Uganda’s economic transformation.
