A total of one hundred fifty (150) Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) soldiers and Ministry of Defence support staff have successfully completed a two-week training on the importance of maintaining the right ideology.
The training at Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo, reminded trainees of the importance of keeping the right military ideology since it’s the backbone and basis of strength for the UPDF.
While passing out the graduands, the Deputy Chief Political Commissar, Col Nelson Aheebwa, thanked the UPDF leadership for providing continuous training in all Units, civilian support staff and formations.
Col Aheebwa, who was speaking on behalf of the Chief Political Commissar, Maj Gen Henry Matsiko, noted that deepening and heightening ideological consciousness promotes discipline, teamwork, loyalty, integrity, and sacrifice, and increases the motivation of officers, militants and support staff.
He added that the vision and mission of UPDF can only be maintained by a soldier who is ideologically conscious, pro-people and disciplined.
Aheebwa reminded the trained personnel to practice what they learned and ensure that the country remains peaceful and stable for social-economic transformation.
The Director Political Education Land Forces, Col Anatoli Nuwagira, said the training aimed at improving and maintaining discipline, cohesion, containment and increasing the morale of troops.
Nuwagira also applauded the UPDF leadership especially Chief of Defence Forces for the great opportunities in training at different levels.
The pass out was also graced by the Director of Finance at the Land Forces Headquarters, Col Jacob Yebazibwe, and Director Personnel and Administration Land Forces, Col Edward Ronald Mutaawe, among others.
