The President made the announcement while speaking during the celebration of a national public holiday.

He revealed that infections across the country have fallen, with the daily positivity rate dropping below 5% in the past two weeks.

Kenyatta had as well increased the number of people who can attend a religious service to two thirds of a congregation, from the previous a third.

Kenyans have for months used social media to ask government to lift the nationwide night curfew as one of the means of reviving the struggling economy on grounds the COVID19 pandemic and measures like curfew were worsening the situation.
