Uganda Cranes will this afternoon work to extend their dominance over the Amavubi Stars of Rwanda in match four of the FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
The two countries are in group E alongside Mali and Kenya.
Today’s game which will be played at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende at 4pm is a return leg of the two sides following Uganda’s slim 1-0 win over Rwanda in the first leg on Thursday in Kigali, thanks to Fahad Bayo’s 41st minute goal.
Uganda’s Head Coach Sredojevic’Micho’ Milutin has already confirmed his starting line-up, handing Vipers youngster Aziz Kayondo his first start in the senior team. Charles Lukwago has been maintained in goal ahead of Ismael Watenga and Denis Iguma will captain the boys since Khalid Aucho is on suspension after picking up a second yellow card in the previous game.
At Kitende, spectators will not be allowed inside the stadium due to the existing COVID restrictions. They will however access the game live on public broadcaster UBC, only on free to air decoders.
The two sides have met 35 times in all competitions. Uganda has won 15, drawn 9 and Rwanda has won 11.
Mali tops the group with 7 points followed by Uganda with 5 points. Kenya is in third with 2 points while Rwanda sits bottom with only a point.
Meanwhile, Kenya will at the same time this afternoon host Mali in Nairobi.
Only group leaders at the end of all qualifying games, qualify for next year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
