Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) strongman Kizza Besigye has said that grenades thrown at opposition MPs’ homes are mean to intimidate them. He said that by doing so, government is trying to force opposition legislators to abandon their fight against the amendment of the age limit.
On Tuesday morning, explosives which police has since described as ‘factory made grenades’ thrown in the compounds of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi ‘Bobi Wine’ and Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana.
Speaking to journalists at his home in Kasangati hours later, Besigye accused government of masterminding the grenade attacks.
“They want to intimidate us so as to abandon the struggle,” Besigye said.
The oppposition stalwart mocked government for pulling such tricks to intimidate them (opposition) but urged fellow opposition politicians to beware of such games to distract them from their cause.
“They do it not to intimidate only you but also your family members so that they put pressure on you,” he said.
“You should know that any struggle involves overcoming many threats.”
Besigye urged the legislators to fight on to liberate the country.
