“Tomorrow, Monday, I will begin a national radio campaign to explain and respond to major questions on land-related matters. I encourage everyone to tune in and let us have a conversation. Thank you,” the President posted on Facebook.

Government last month tabled the land amendment bill that seeks to amend Article 26 of the Constitution to enable goverment acquire land for projects before compensation.

However, the bill attracted condemnation from members of the public as well as the committee on legal and parliamentary affairs.

The MPs argued that it is was not necessary to amend the Constitution. They called for establishment of a lands tribunal to deal with land disputes and related matters which may affect government projects.

The NRM Caucus later met at State House and a committee headed by Vice President Edward Ssekandi was formed to study the matter.

Lands Minister Betty Amongi has appeared on several media programmes saying several government projects have stalled or been delayed on account of individuals who acquire land in areas government plans to start projects, and take to court with huge claims.

Mid this year President Museveni instituted a land commission headed by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire to look into issues of land in the country.
