After failing to progress in the top most continental club tournament (CAF Champions League) a couple of weeks back, Uganda Football Champions, Vipers SC are back in the continental run.
They will today host Tunisian outfit, CS Sfaxien in the first leg of the 2nd 1/16 round at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
This is a game they must win in order to not only build on, to advance to the group stages, but also, prove their worth in continental football.
Owned by former FUFA President, Lawrence Mulindwa, Venoms have put in all it takes to dominate the game in Uganda and Africa, including hiring foreign Coaches and players as well as setting up the first individually owned stadium in the country, but the results and objectives have not tallied yet.
They were knocked out of CAF Champions league by Algeria’s CS Constantine on a whole 3-0 aggregate defeat, before descending into Confederation Cup.
Prior to this, they struggled to edge out Sudan’s El Merriekh on away goal’s rule with a 2-2 aggregate.
The Kitende based side lies second in the StarTimes Uganda Premier league with 29 points from the 13 matches played so far, with two games at hand.
But, can they cruise past the Tunisians today?

Yes, because they will rely on the previous comfortable 3-0 league win against Onduparaka FC as a booster in today’s encounter.
Being under a new Coach Michael Ouma and returned tactician Edward Golola, is another factor to push the boys work harder and capture the eye of the Coaches.
No, because CS Sfaxien, is no ordinary club in African football. They are three CAF Confederation Cup Champions and a CAF cup triumph in 1998. They have also won Tunisian league eight times.
This communicates how hard it will be for the Uganda to secure a win against them.
