Lucky Bosmic Otim has finally met his long-time music colleague Bobi Wine, also Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East.
Their encounter had much to do with the activism and call for social change that both their music espouses than any other thing. Bobi Wine hosted Bosmic at his One Love Beach in Busabala a few days ago.
The meeting comes at time when he, Bosmic is giving a number of Northern Ugandan prominent political figures sleepless nights using his strong lyrics as manifested in some of his latest releases.
In his latest song titled Mac Onywalo buru translated to mean ‘fire produces ash’, Bosmic attempts to mock Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, Lira Municipality MP Jimmy Akena, State International Affairs Minister Okello-Oryem, Kitgum Municipality MP Beatrice Anywar among others over what he alleges to be bad political dealings.
Whereas the common people enjoyed the song, it did not sit well with Kitgum District Security Committee under the chairmanship of the then Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr William Komakech, who order for its ban on all radio stations and in the night clubs across the district.
However, this ban seemed as though it was as an awakening for even stronger resolve among the locals who instead shared it widely through social media platforms.
Among the notable personalities that commended Bosmic for this song in what they called a HIT was Bobi Wine.
In a live broadcast on Facebook, Bobi Wine cheered Bosmic for sharing his ideology that social change is every Ugandan’s cause.
“It’s always good to know that we have other artistes who ha e the same minds that shows the world that this is not about Bobi Wins its all of us no matter your tribe, religion or political party. We are all sons of Uganda,” Bobi Wine said.
On his part, Bosmic wrote; “Nile Republic, Fire Base. Bosmic, Bobi Wine. We are symbols of unity, voice for the voiceless and our motto is unity in diversity”.
Little wonder, the duo used their catch up to rally young people in Uganda to take part in tomorrow’s planned peaceful demonstration against what Bobi Wine and other activists call unfair taxes.
