Watoto Church has made a donation of Shs 10 million to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to go towards improving government aided schools within Kampala city.

The donation was made yesterday during one of the prayer services at Watoto downtown in the heart of Kampala.

A dummy cheque of Shs 10 million was handed to the KCCA Executive Director, Dr Jennifer Musisi together with other officials from the Authority who attended the prayers.

“Watoto is partnering with KCCA to bring transformation to the city. From the Miracle Offering, we have given Shs 10 million as our contribution towards the rehabilitation of KCCA schools in the city,” read a post written on the Watoto Church official Facebook page on Sunday.

According to the post, the donation was made off the Miracle Offering, money that is voluntarily given by worshippers at Watoto.

“Thank you for your faithful giving. You matter,” added the post.

In commending the gesture, Musisi tweeted; “We are so appreciative of Watoto church which has further partnered with KCCA in different areas of city transformation like city-wide cleanup drives”.

“We are raising funds to renovate the 79 UPE schools with the proceeds from the Kampala City Festival,” she added.

KCCA recently launched preparations for this year’s Kampala city festival, slated to take place from October 5 to 7.

Proceeds from the festival, an annual funfare event which celebrates the city by showcasing the cultural and food diversity, tourism, entertainment among others, will go towards removing asbestos rooftops from the remaining government aided schools across the city to curb the threat of cancer.

As a result of the previous festivals, KCCA have used funds from government and sponsors to construct 124 classrooms as well as putting up new school buildings in addition to renovations

“Thank you Watoto Church family. When you partner with KCCA, you are making it possible for our school children to have a decent and improved learning environment for them to achieve academic excellence with the proceeds from the 2018,” read a post by the official KCCA Facebook page.
