The Chief Executive of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Clare Akamazi is set to receive Honorary Doctorate from the Concordia University in Canada.
Between June 11 and 13 this year, Concordia University in Canada will present honorary doctorates to 11 individuals who have made their mark in the fields of law, art, indigenous rights, journalism, nanoscience, business and philanthropy.
This will take place during the university’s spring convocation ceremonies in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts where over 5,600 students will graduate.
According to the University’s website, Clare Akamanzi, will be honoured with Honorary Doctorate, “for her contribution in improving the business environment, private sector development, and standards of living for Rwandans”.
She will address the John Molson School of Business on Wednesday, June 13, at 10am.
Akamanzi, a Harvard University graduate has since February 2017 been presiding over Rwanda Development Board. The agency is responsible for business registration, promotion of investment and tourism, environmental clearances, privatization and specialist agencies which support the priority sectors of ICT as well as SMEs and human capacity development in the private sector.
RDB measures its achievements through direct foreign and domestic investments, increased exports and the number of jobs created.
Akamanzi previously served as RDB Chief Operating Officer, Head of Strategy and Policy in the President’s Office and Rwanda’s Trade Negotiator at World Trade Organisation, Geneva.
She is an international trade and investment lawyer. Clare Akamanzi received a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School (HKS). She received awards for academic excellence and distinguished contributions to the HKS community.
She also holds an LLM (with distinction) in International Trade and Investment from the University of Pretoria and an LLM (honors) from Makerere University, Uganda.
