When a Joke Isn’t Funny: Comedian Alex Muhangi Gets Stuck in Remote Rukiga

Alex Muhangi's Mark X car stuck in a muddy road somewhere in Rukiga district

Comedian Alex Muhangi might be the master in the business of cracking jokes, but on Sunday, he witnessed first hand how the audience feels once a joke isn’t funny. Sadly for him, it was no stage joke but real life huddles.

The nasty experience befell the Comedy Store boss when he chose to visit his roots in Kihorezo, Mparo sub-county in the new Rukiga district, South West of Uganda. But he would soon experience the ugly side of the recent unpredictable weather patterns often characterized by heavy downpours.

Muhangi was stuck in one of the muddy terrain road in Uganda’s hard-to-reach areas for close to an hour. Not a situation any of the celebs like to find themselves in. Luckily for him, there was no snoopy paparazzi in remote villages of Rukiga to burst him out.

But he did it himself on Monday when he posted on his Facebook a photo of his Mark X saloon car stuck in the water logged murram road. In the photo, some locals presumably those that had come to his rescue are seen holding hoes to save him from his slippery-when-wet encounter.

One of those moments when you find yourself in a position where choice is a luxury and are willing to part with whichever sum of money any potential saviour demands. On the other hand, the beauty of being a high-price entertainer like Muhangi is – no amount of money is shocking.

We bet nobody understands better what it means to hail from hard-to-reach areas like the funny man after his tragic incident. Whether that was lesson enough for him to progress from his saloon car to a four-wheel SUV, we shall leave that to him.
