Uganda’s representatives Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC have reached the final of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers after a convincing 3-0 victory over Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) FC on Saturday.

The Ugandan champions produced a controlled performance to dominate the semi-final and move within one match of securing a place at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.

Kawempe Muslim started brightly, keeping possession and dictating the pace of the contest from the opening minutes.

Their pressure paid off in the 13th minute when Agnes Nabukenya forced an Ethiopian defender into a mistake while attempting to play the ball out from the back.

Jovia Nakagolo reacted quickly, pouncing on the loose ball before firing a low effort beyond the goalkeeper to put Kawempe Muslim 1-0 ahead.

The Valley Warriors maintained control for the remainder of the first half and went into the break with their narrow advantage intact.

They returned from the interval with the same intensity, continuing to dominate possession while creating openings around the CBE defence.

Their persistence produced a second goal in the 54th minute. Nakagolo again applied pressure, forcing Tigist Adane into turning the ball into her own net as Kawempe Muslim doubled their lead.

Nabukenya then completed the scoring in the 72nd minute, producing a composed looping finish over the Ethiopian goalkeeper to seal a 3-0 victory.

The result makes Kawempe Muslim only the second Ugandan club to reach the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers, following She Corporate FC, who achieved the feat in Tanzania in 2022.

Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub praised his players for executing their game plan and maintaining their defensive discipline.

“I am very pleased with the performance and the way the players executed our plan. We wanted to control the game, stay patient and make the most of the opportunities that came our way,” Ayub said.

“The clean sheet is also important because it shows the discipline and concentration we have maintained throughout the tournament,” he added.

The coach, however, warned his players against becoming complacent with the final now within reach. “We have reached the final, but our work is not done. We will now recover, prepare well and focus on the final,” he said.

Kawempe Muslim’s defensive record has been one of the defining features of their campaign. The Ugandan side has yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

The Valley Warriors will now prepare for the final, where they will be seeking to complete their campaign by winning the CECAFA title and securing Uganda’s qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
