President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed four former ministers as Senior Presidential Advisors in a new round of government appointments announced in the latest cabinet changes.
According to an official release from the Presidency, the newly appointed Senior Presidential Advisors are Hon. Hamson Obua, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, Hon. Francis Mwebesa, and Hon. Evelyn Anite. Their specific portfolios are expected to be communicated later.
The announcement was contained in the official cabinet reshuffle communication issued by the Presidency.
The statement also confirmed that Hon. Dr Kenneth Omona has been transferred to the diplomatic service and will serve as Uganda’s ambassador at a station that will be communicated later.
The appointments form part of broader changes in government leadership as President Museveni continues to reorganise key positions within the Executive.
Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa has previously served in several senior cabinet positions, including Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, while Hon. Evelyn Anite has held roles in investment and privatisation. Hon. Francis Mwebesa has served in the trade docket, and Hon. Hamson Obua previously served as Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Sports.
The role of Senior Presidential Advisor typically involves providing strategic guidance to the President on governance, policy implementation, political affairs, and sector-specific matters.
Meanwhile, the transfer of Dr Kenneth Omona to the diplomatic service signals a shift from domestic politics to foreign representation as Uganda continues strengthening its diplomatic engagements abroad.
The Presidency said details regarding the advisors’ specific assignments and Omona’s diplomatic posting will be announced in due course.
