A motor accident that occured on Sunday along the Kampala – Mbarara highway has left four people seriously injured.
Police say the incident which occurred at 9am on Sunday morning in Lyantonde district involved a Toyota Land Cruiser, a tractor and a truck.
It is reported that the Land Cruiser Reg No. UAP 229L which was traveling from Masaka to Mbarara rammed into a tractor Reg No. UAZ 957W as it tried to branch off the highway to a nearby fuel station.
According to Charles Sebambulide, the Police Traffic spokesperson, the tractor coincidentally tried to turn to the right at the fuel station and in the process got knocked by the Land Cruiser whose driver was trying to overtake the tractor.
The Land Cruiser then lost control and slammed into a Mitsubishi Canter Reg No. UAR 492R which was parked some meters ahead before it (Land Cruiser) rolled off several times.
Three of the occupants of the Land Cruiser were left injured and have been identified as Zziwa Ezra, Naome Kibazo (driver) and a one Atwijukye. The three were later transferred to Nakasero hospital in Kampala for medical treatment.
Mugume Eden, the driver of the tractor was also injured and is currently admitted in Lyantonde health centre IV.
