Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala Appointed New IGG

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG), replacing Hon. Beti Olive Namisango Kamya.

The appointment, made in accordance with the President’s constitutional powers, was announced by Faruk Kirunda, Special Presidential Assistant for Press and Mobilisation and Deputy Press Secretary.

“The President, in exercise of his constitutional mandate, has appointed Hon. Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala as the new Inspector General of Government,” Kirunda said in a statement issued Tuesday.

“The Deputy IGGs, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Mrs. Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, have been retained in their positions.”

Kirunda added that the names of the appointees have been formally forwarded to Parliament for vetting and approval.

Justice Batala, a seasoned jurist with extensive experience in Uganda’s judiciary, is expected to steer the Inspectorate of Government in its constitutional mandate of promoting accountability, transparency, and the fight against corruption in public office.

Her appointment marks the end of Hon. Beti Kamya’s tenure as IGG, during which the Inspectorate undertook major reforms to strengthen asset recovery and anti-graft enforcement.

The President congratulated Justice Batala and the Deputy IGGs upon their appointments, urging them to serve with integrity and dedication in upholding good governance and the rule of law.
